Wallace Dewitt Bates was the son of Tully Democrat Bates and Laura Deck. Wallace was born 09 Sep 1900 in Mt. Vernon, Whitfield Co., GA, and died 11 Jul 1969 in Whitfield Co., GA. He married Lena Inez Farr on 02 Jun 1927 in Tunnel Hill, Whitfield Co., GA. She was the daughter of Charles Farr and Mabel Rainey. She was born 08 Apr 1900 in Chattanooga, TN, and died 02 Aug 1994 in Dalton, GA. Wallace and Lena are buried in Tunnel Hill Cemetery in Tunnel Hill, GA. Wallace was a farmer, building contractor, & Whitfield Co. Commissioner and a member of Tunnel Hill Methodist Church, GA. This photo was taken a few days before Wallace died in 1969.
